FASHION’S NIGHT OUT 2009

Since some of us cannot make it to Fashion Week, then we settle for the next best thing! Fashion’s Night Out, the Houston edition.

Fashion’s Night Out was designed by blond haired, Chanel sunglasses wearing, Vogue Magazine’s EIC, Anna Wintour, for the fashionably loud citizens that just might not have the dollars to attend one of the magnificent fashion shows this week. Fashion’s Night Out is better known to some as a celebration of style. This event is a kick off for the upcoming fall season of Ready To Wear fashions. Neiman Marcus will provide tons of giveways to the first 750 people. You can enjoy make-overs, tasty treats and HAUTE runway shows with the lastest fall fashions.
If you RSVP through Houstongottidbits.com, then name brand goodies such as Bobbi Brown, Fekkai, Kate Somerville and Sisley, will be thrown your way. DJ Martin will continue to spin, while your tummy’s are filled with delectable treats from some of the best chefs in town. Friday, August 28th, 2009As the summer rolls by us, and fall turns our way it’s time now to pick up a couple of fun party shoes for the upcoming holiday season.
Vivacious shoes are a must. The outfit can be as simple as you want it, but a banging statement shoe, or a glittery stiletto will sure enough set the ground on fire with every step you take. Whatever your mood is for the day, let your shoes do the talking.
If you want to take a walk on the wild side, try a pair of Manolo Blahnik’s Pony Leopard d’Orsay stilettos.
If you are feeling sexy and sassy and ready to let loose, try a pair of red, Jimmy Choo Cage sandal, that offers a cute peep toe with a simple cutout on the top of each foot.

Fashion Icon: At 61, Model Naomi Sims dies
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009Modeling was her destiny, fame was her bookmark, and affliction was her way out. Model, Naomi Sims was born to a very strict Catholic family in Oxford, Mississippi, on March 30, 1948. Growing up in the late fifties Sims had two challenges she had to overcome. The first being African American, and the second was being utterly tall.
Once Sims, realized fashion was what she wanted to pursue, she enrolled in the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. In the late 60’s and 70’s, she become one of the first African-American models to walk in major fashion shows, you could see her face in numerous magazines spreads, and could recognize her face countless fashion magazines. She was the first African-American model to grace the cover of Ladies Home Journal, Time, Cosmopolitan, McCall’s, Life, and many others.
After her successful modeling career she began her own line of wigs. Her collection was for the textured, and relaxed black womans’ hair.
Sims fought for her life, until she could not fight anymore. Sims died August 1, 2009 from Breast Cancer.
