Halloween is not just a day of tricks and treats, but it’s another day for celebrities to express their inner creep all while showcasing scary costumes or naughty ones. This year there were limited celeb sitings of Halloween costume favorites like scarecrows, witches, and vampires. It’s that time again! Houston put on your latest threads and head downtown for the second annual fashion week at the Wortham Center beginning October 10-13, 2011. Designers from across the globe will be joining the lineup this year. The Audi Pavilion will open at 6 p.m. and the fashion show will start at 8 p.m. Houston’s own Jerri Moore will start the night off with her keen designs. Three other Houstonian designers Chloe Dao, Cesar Galindo, and Aries Milan will showcase their designs over the course of the week. Barbara Tfank, Project 360, Douglas Hannat, Carmen Marc Valvo, Norman Ambrose, and Robert Rodriguez are amongst the many designers set to showcase their designs this year. Kanye West Introduces New Clothing Line at Paris Fashion Week

Grammy award winning hip-hop artist, Kanye West, debuts his Spring 2012 Ready-To-Wear collection at Paris Fashion Week. Celebrities and fashion gods were front row and center for the launch of Mr. Wests’ highly raved womenswear clothing line KW. You are probably thinking, we do not need another rapper turned fashion designer. I have to admit I also was a little skeptical behind the idea, but by the looks of the pieces, the new designer may have found himself another niche.

Kanye’s fierce models stomped the catwalk in off-white ripped skirts and dresses, black leather pants, plunging necklines, and splashes of bright hues. He topped it off with zippers and furs. From the looks of things, Kanye loves for his woman to show a little skin. Even though Houston’s springtime weather will not permit the wearing of furs and leather, but they did add pizazz to his couture collection.

On a consistent basis, Kanye exudes style and confidence, but if he was not your favorite rapper do you think he has what it takes to become a top designer? You be the judge. Check out his debut line below.

Fashion’s Night Out: 2nd stop Saks Fifth Avenue

Well, I thought I was heading straight to Saks, but I couldn’t help but to stare at the women on stilts, who were actually posing by the Tory Burch, Coach, and Juicy Couture stores. My mission to Saks was interrupted when I glanced at the Bebe store, which of course I had to stop by, I just couldn’t pass up the macaroons and cosmos! The DJ was definitely putting me in a shopping mood – Beyonce’s “Get Me Bodied” will always do it.

Finally here I come Saks!

Saks was definitely the place to be, lights, cameras, action as my heels along with other fashionistas stepped across the black entrance. The makeup counters were lined with beauties. Of course one of beauty insiders favorites, Dolce & Gabanna, was giving free makeovers, Fendi reps were passing out their latest fragrance, which isn’t that bad. And of course I couldn’t pass up the crabcakes, expresso, gelato, and cocktails!

But the highlight of my night would have to be watching shirtless macho men glide around showcasing the latest fall collections of handbags from designers such as Miu Miu. Check out the shirtless man below.

Once I came back to reality, (after I almost drooled on myself) I was a little upset with some news I heard from a Bobbi Brown beauty expert. As I confidently asked to purchase my favorite lipgloss, Mimosa, the expert stated “they have discontinued that color”. Ahhh what am I to do now! I guess I have to go back to MAC’s liglass!

I sadly proceeded to head out to another department store, only after I was forced to settle with another Bobbi Brown shade of lipgloss called Tangerine.

On the way out, a group of beautiful ladies over at www.stylelist.com stopped me to take a photo for the website. Check out the site to see my close up!

Next stop Macys!

(Editor’s note: I never made it to Macy’s or any other department store, because I couldn’t leave out of the handbag section…I am ashamed at how much I spent there.)

Fashion’s Night Out: 1st stop Neiman Marcus

As I walked up the concrete stairs and through the entrance of Neimans at the Houston Galleria I couldn’t help but to think where is everyone??? However, as I tiptoed passed the YSL section of the women’s shoes I suddenly heard music. It was the house version of an Usher song to be exact. That was definitely a sign of life….but on the second level!

As I glided off the elevator, one of the salesman stated the bar is to the left. Yippee! I picked up my maroon colored drink with a hint of yellow from the sliced lemon and headed towards the runway, which I might add, was proportionally centered between the collections of two of the greatest designers, Oscar De La Renta and Carolina Herrera. As I continued to mix and mingle, I quickly noticed girlfriends and co-workers catching up while drinking and keeping their bellies full with chicken quesadillas and other cute little snacks.

I couldn’t stay long at Neimans, because I was on a mission to visit every department store at the Galleria, so my next stop was Saks Fifth Avenue!

Calling all Fashionistas!!!!

If jetsetting to NYC this week for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is not in your budget, then we may have found something that should definitely be at the top of your to-do list for this week. The Houston Galleria is supporting fashion with the opening night of Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday, September 8, 2011, kicking off at 5 p.m. So hop out of your 9-5 work wear and throw on your ready-to wear hues for a night full of fun and giveaways.

You may not be able to frolic among celebrities and watch the runway shows in Times Square, but you can learn how to become your own glam squad with the fashion tips and tricks of the Galleria’s own. Department stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Macy’s will have fashion and beauty experts available for demos and styling tips.

At 9 p.m. head over to ICE at the Galleria to check out the latest fall fashion trends at the Simon Fashion Now Fashion Show presented by Cadillac. Peep the latest threads from Carolina Herrera, GUESS, Fendi, Betsey Johnson, Saks Fifth Avenue, and others.
