Slimming Summer Vacation Looks

Just because there are only four more weeks left until the seasons’ change doesn’t mean you have to let go of your summer clothes.  There’s still enough time and sun left for a couple of more last minute vacation days or lounging days to wear those hot summer looks.

Cool maxi dresses, fun kimonos, age-appropriate monokinis and floppy straw hats will make any vacation memorable.  Vacations are meant to be worry free, so if you are stressing over what to wear because of the extra weight you’ve gained or the dimples that just won’t go away, then fret not and incorporate these slimming looks into your wardrobe for any vacation or just a cruise around the city.

Most summer fabrics are breezy and can be worn in any kind of summer weather, like breathable cotton, polyester, silk, rayon and linen.  Printed maxi dresses and shift dresses are usually made out of either of those materials to cling or give a shapely but slimming look to your body while absorbing moisture.  Shift dresses usually come above the knee but is lower in the back.  If your knees aren’t one of your most flattering features, then opt for a maxi dress, which will elongate your look while slimming it as well.  Try rocking a monochrome printed shift dress instead of a solid color and add neon colored pump or sandal to give the dress attitude.  The monochrome print is designed to give to keep the eye wondering, and the print hides some of your less flattering sections of your body.

For a more relaxed look, try adding a thin belt to any flowy shirt or add dresses that have inserted ties that belt above the waistline to your wardrobe.  Belts seemingly shrink the waist and flatter your figure to more of a coke bottle shape.  Pair the flowy shirt with skinny jeans or solid capri pants.  Since you will have a belt around the waist don’t clutter your appearance with heavy loads of accessories.  Keep it light with a simple necklace and maybe two or three bangles to complete the look.

Trends for the summer months usually incorporate prints such as stripes, animal prints, florals, tie-dies, polka dots etc.  Remember certain prints like stripes and animal prints are not that flattering on all sizes.  Preferably a smaller frame will make stripes and animal prints fun to wear.  For a fuller frame, you can wear prints but just stick with prints that are minimumlized and not that spread out throughout the piece.

Finding the right swimsuit for your body type can be tough, but not as worrisome as you think.  If you are rushing and want the perfect suit, then try a department store like JCPenney or Macy’s.  They usually have a broader selection with lasting materials and favorable colors and prints.  One-piece bathing suits are on trend, pick up a solid color monokini and add a lengthy floral kimono with a pair of t-strapped sandals and get ready to have some fun in the sun.  The kimono releases the thought of any unwanted skin taking a peek from underneath your clothing and enhances your confidence to wear pieces that you would have once been afraid to wear.

So now it’s time to pack.  Vacations are usually lengthy in days but the time flies.  So packing classic pieces mixed with trendy items will give your vacation look a fresh feel even if you are wearing some things twice.

Take a peek below at some fun summer looks.
