How To Transform One Holiday Outfit into Four Looks

The holidays are upon us and that means tree lighting ceremonies, holiday parties and family gatherings, which in the end means pictures, pictures and more pictures.  With more than one party to attend in one night, time is of an essence.  You might find yourself swapping clothes in the backseat of your car or in a Walgreens restroom, wherever it is you want to get to your next party feeling flawless and serving a different style than the last get together.  Who wants to look back a year from now and notice the same outfit was worn at four different parties that were all in the same night?

If you want to remember the occasion where you met the love of your life or the moments you forgot due to the heavy flow of holiday drinks, then add these accessories to your holiday staple to add luxe and contrast to your day to night wardrobe change.  This way your pictures will definitely help explain the night.

First, scan the party invites for dress codes.  Tally the amount of cocktail, semi-formal, casual and festive parties you must attend for the night.  You may only have two out of the four to dress for, or you might have to mix outfits for all four dress codes.  If most are cocktail or festive,  then you want to stay chic all night.  If you have more than one party that is casual but there will be cuties in the building, then opt for more accessories to give glam and accentuation but won’t make you feel grandiose.  The key to a successful wardrobe change, is to accessorize.

Next, choose the dress.  Since you will have more than one party to attend, you might want to stick to one dress for the night and glam up or down the dress for the event.  Finding the right color for the day and night should be easy since most holiday dresses are either black, red, green or gold.  The most resourceful color would be black.

Now let’s dissect the codes.  For the cocktail event rock a midnight black long sleeved midi dress with printed black tights and a pair of red pumps to add color.  Pull out a small to medium gold clutch to match your gold bangles and diamond hoop earrings.

Semi-formal is a mixture between conservative and chic.  Keep it classy with the black midi dress and black suede heels.  Look for a more detailed shoe to make the outfit pop.  A tailored off-white or burgundy blazer will fit perfectly with gold or black open toe heels or add a faux fur coat instead of the blazer.  For this look keep the jewelry to a minimum, but to pick up the accessory slack add a bedazzled or sequined clutch to complete the looks.

The casual look will most likely be an after work party or a gathering at a friend’s home.  So dress comfortable because it probably will be lots of holiday games and bounds of laughter.  The midi dress of course will be the constant staple, however, add a pair of riding boots, a plaid scarf positioned fashionably and a floppy brim wool fedora to match the print of the scarf.  This look will be complete with drop earrings, a couple of chained bracelets and a gold and silver chronograph watch.  If needed, you can carry a tote to complement the hat and scarf.

A festive look will be the most fun to dress for.  For a bolder look, add a faux fur vest to the midi dress, jazz it up with leopard print booties and add a rhinestone or a jeweled toned statement necklace for drama.  For arm candy, lace the wrist with bangles and mix with chain bracelets.

With these looks noted, your one-night, four holiday themed party look will be sure to turn heads and elicit tons of photos for social media and scrapbooks.
