American Girl opens in Houston
It’s finally here! We no longer have to trek to Dallas for a quick fix of American Girl products. On September 15, 2012, Houston will open its arms to the newest addition to the Memorial City Mall, a 16,000-square-foot pink mecca for doll lovers. Ribbon cutting ceremony begins at 8:50 a.m. and doors open at 9:00 a.m..
Houston is the second city in Texas to host the American Girl store. It’s an experience where girls are allowed to be girls. There will be hair stylists on hand to keep your doll looking beautiful in the Doll Hair Salon, you can have family time while eating lunch or dessert in the Bistro, or even design your doll a t-shirt in the Creativi-Tees Boutique.
Girls can choose from four different dolls including Bitty Baby, Bitty Twins, historical dolls, and My American Girl dolls. The historical dolls lets girls experience past events like The Great Depression, The Civil War, and the 1970’s. The My American Girl dolls provides a connection with the owner and the doll by a sense of similarity.
The Houston location will host weekly events like scavenger hunts and arts and crafts. Monthly events may include cooking lessons and author meet and greets. Check out the website www.americangirl.com for future events.
Tell me your American Girl experience. Do you have an American Girl doll? Will you be attending the Houston grand opening?
