Style Icon Sarah Jessica Parker Debuts Shoe Line to Houston Galleria’s Nordstrom
They say diamonds are a girls best friend, but what girl really has only one best friend? We have a couple and a pair of shoes are another one of our friends that we can’t live without. Sarah Jessica Parker has put her stamp on her BFFs’ since her days as Carrie Bradshaw on the Sex in the City television series that spawned into two feature films. The fashions of couture designers and eclectic shoe designers kept our attention more than the plot. Now we can get carried away and indulge in SJP, her second shoe collection. She produced the collection with the help of Manolo Blahnik CEO, George Malkemus, who both graced Houston Galleria’s Nordstrom, Friday, with their presence while greeting fans and autographing shoes.
This week she made her rounds to various Nordstrom’s from coast to coast to autograph shoes and handbags and to connect with the women who will wear a pair of her contemporary with a touch of edge shoes. The price range for SJP is from $200 – $695, however, a comfortable yet sleek shoe is the type of shoe most women won’t mind spending a pretty penny on, and Parker has proven that her shoes are worth every penny.
“This shoe is comfortable and very durable. I love that she added some surprising elements to her shoes, like the very soft leather on the inside of the shoe as well as the pink ribbon running down the back strap of the shoe,” said Perth Tolle, while trying on the ‘Fawn’ pump.
The more popular shoe of the evening, were the ‘Gina’, which was the same shoe that Parker wore the afternoon of the event, combined with a blue and white striped silk dress with details of gray and black snakeskin.
You would think the line would be extravagant, but it is a glimpse of Parker post Sex in the City days. She is more reserved and not as edgy as her character Carrie Bradshaw. She is a mom and a wife now, but she still wants to feel sexy and comfortable at the same time. Hence her not so high heeled pumps. To add sex appeal to the line, she added bold colors as well as lace up suede booties and leather knee high boots.
For me personally, I like a shoe to pop out at me on the stand, but with this line I only saw one shoe that did that for me, the ‘Pat’ boot. However, as I continued to gaze at the shoes and get a sense of where I might go on a journey with these shoes, I began to realize that the higher the heel doesn’t necessarily mean the sexier the shoe, it’s the person wearing the shoe that makes it sexy.
So ladies, let’s get carried away with the SJP collection, exclusively for Nordstrom and tell me what shoe is your favorite.
