Trains, Trains and More Trains All in Black or White at the 2015 SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet was on fire Sunday evening, spewing shades of black and white with the industry’s leading actresses all dazzling in gowns by fashion’s hautest designers.

There were sheer and silk trains, sexy off-the-shoulder looks and meticulously beaded dresses all making their way down the carpet, which throughout the night left us in awe.  How could something that was once on a spool turn into a fabulous design and end up on a gorgeous body?  Fashion does just that, it turns dreams into reality.  It opens you up in a way that your mouth may never be able to, and for the women on Sunday night’s carpet they proved just that.   They let the dress speak for itself.

Emma Stone’s black double-breasted half Dior jacket with a sheer undertone and Laura Carmichael’s white half-in-half sheer skirt and halter Vionnet gown spoke volumes to the masses.  If both dresses could speak they would have said, ‘we might look like we play nice but don’t cross us, because there is an edgy side underneath this covering.’  Their mesmerizing trains flowed with continuity and lineage that left us whistling for days.

Thumbs up to Reese Witherspoon’s off-white one-shoulder silk number, which left us craving for more of these Giorgio Armani looks in the future from the actress.

Principle looks from Joanne Frogatt and Viola Davis, set the tone of class and character for the entire night.  And let Dascha Polanco tell it, white is the new black, as she looked fierce in her lace, backless Michael Costello gown, instead of her Netflix characters’ bright orange prison jumpsuit.

Whether white body-hugging or black billowing gowns, worn by seasoned actresses and designed by young couturiers, like Zac Posen and Christian Siriano, they sure do know how to make a girl feel young, free and fearless no matter her age.

Check out the gallery below and give us your opinion on these sleek and chic black or white gowns from last night’s award ceremony.
